mine

I stumbled into faith through the
fine lips of yours lies. I thumb them
between fingers, shuffling the past
looking for an ace or something black
enough to show light. I can't help but
notice the gold flake glittering my hands.
The emptiness of heaven shines like mine

In the embrace of thunder's arms
I slept, suckling fury, ignorant
of the lightning's lucent violence.

I write to the wind
my stories, she twists them about
her legs, serpents rising into her darkness.

Falling into the black song of the earth
there is no silence, the churning blood
and bone an embryonic chorus ripe
in the fertility of death. A kiss crawling
into my mouth, a new tongue to taste
this anatomy of debauchery

no longer

It's an old river that drags itself
through this sandy valley. A wrinkled
sky shifting uncomfortably, rubbing
along the mesa until the stars are
finally uncovered.

The roots I have ripped out no longer
hold the land to a home, the leaves
have left only skeletons to remind.
Calluses hide you from me, a smile
I can no longer feel. Where do I lay
my head under all these stars when my
bones no longer fit in this dirt?

vespers

The bells toll, extracting time from the
empty night. Prayer candles flicker behind
blooded glass, lost hopes bound to fire. I may
not be a christian but if it helps I'll wear
a cross. I will drink the blood of your god
from the chalice of your lips, consume his
flesh as long as I taste your divinity on my
tongue. I will repent for your new sins, I
might not know how to pray but tonight
I am on my knees
