one

I was once tamed but now I
can't look you in the eye
inside these same walls.
Outside the starlight burns
itself off, extinguishing on rooftops
and the limbs of bare trees.
My eyes slip sideways as if
the polarity is too similar.
Your silence slides by. The darkness
gains strength to hide these flaws
disguised below the surface of touch

 .
